Reduce motion blur and camera shake

Best for mild-to-moderate blur. Severe blur may show limited improvement. AI results are approximate - not suitable for forensic or evidentiary use.

COMBb2's AI Deblur tool uses the NAFNet (Nonlinear Activation Free Network) model to reduce motion blur, camera shake, and soft focus in your photos. The neural network runs entirely in your browser - no uploads required. Best suited for mild-to-moderate blur from handheld shots, slight motion, or soft autofocus.

Common Use Cases

  • Camera shake correction
Recover sharpness from photos affected by unsteady hands or slow shutter speeds.
  • Motion blur reduction
Reduce blur from slight subject movement during exposure.
  • Soft focus recovery
Sharpen photos where autofocus missed slightly or focused on the wrong area.
  • Low-light handheld shots
Compensate for the blur that comes from shooting handheld in dim conditions.
  • Scanned photo restoration
Sharpen scanned prints that appear soft due to scanner limitations.

How It Works

NAFNet is a lightweight neural network designed for image restoration. It analyzes blur patterns in your photo and reconstructs sharper details using learned priors from training on millions of image pairs. The model runs locally in your browser via WebAssembly - no internet connection is needed after the page loads.

Why Privacy Matters Here

Photos you need to deblur may contain personal moments, confidential content, or client work. Unlike cloud-based deblurring services, COMBb2 processes everything on your device. Your photos, whether personal snapshots or professional work, never touch a remote server.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much blur can the AI fix?+
The tool works best on mild-to-moderate blur - slight camera shake, minor motion blur, or soft focus. Severe blur (e.g., fast-moving subjects with heavy motion streaks or extreme camera shake) cannot be fully recovered by any AI, as the detail information is genuinely lost.
Is AI deblurring suitable for forensic or legal use?+
No. AI deblurring generates an approximation of what the sharp image might look like. It does not recover the original detail with scientific accuracy. Results should not be used for forensic, legal, or evidentiary purposes.
Can I combine deblur with other tools?+
Yes. For best results, deblur first, then apply sharpening for extra crispness, and denoise if there's also grain. Finally, upscale if you need a larger image.
Why does my image look the same after deblurring?+
If your image has heavy or uniform blur, the AI may not produce visible improvement. The tool is most effective on localized or mild blur. Try using the Sharpen tool as a complement for additional crispness.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?+
No. The NAFNet AI model runs entirely in your browser. Your images never leave your device during processing.
